With a focus on biomedial animation and illustration, Nina specializes in creating clear, accurate, and beautiful pieces designed to educate and captivate. Her goal is to help people understand medical stories through clear, accurate visualizations.
Nina is a biomedical visualization specialist with a focus on animation and digital media.
Drawing on her dual background in science and art, she creates visually compelling, reasearch-based
pieces that communicate and illuminate scientific stories.
She graduated from the University of Utah with a Biology BS and minors in Drawing and Chemistry.
Following graduation, she spent several years living and working in Japan before
moving to Chicago to continue her education at the
MS Biomedical Visualization (BVIS) program at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
During her time as a graduate student at BVIS, she focused on expanding her skills in
2D and 3D animation, 3D modeling, interactive development, graphic design, and learning theory.
She was honored to receive the Alice and
Brian Katz Scholarship, which is awarded by faculty vote in recognition of academic achievement.
After completion of her MS degree, she participated in a research fellowship at the FDA through the
Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE).
When not in the studio, she can be found hiking, cooking, solving crosswords,
and tending to her collection of plants.
